Is it time for change for the Portland Rose Festival?

By Evergreen,

The Portland Tribune and the Portland Monthly magazine have done stories saying it is time for the parade to change.  Records show that attendance is continuing to slip.  The case being made is that the festival has lost its identity and has become overtaken with too many exterior festival events.  In essence, the festival has added too much and the parade itself has lost focus and has suffered.

I remember enjoying the parade with my family as a child.  The excitement has defiantly dwindled over the years.   Maybe the parade organizers need to scale back on other festival related parades and events and direct more money, time and resources into bolstering the Rose Parade.  That would be a bold move.
