Dear Jason:
I live in Spray, Oregon, and have written below my review of Michal Ann McArthur’s novel, “Choking on a Camel,” for the Oregon Book Report. This review is original and has not been published elsewhere. I’m not a writer or blogger, but I do love to read.

My Review:

Michal Ann McArthur’s novel, “Choking on a Camel,” is extremely well written, and I love her style of writing. Alex, a young lady who is in her senior year at a Christian fundamentalist college, finds herself struggling with a legalistic environment. She is going through a crisis which involved losing a brother in a car accident, being distanced from her other brother who chose to flee the country to avoid the military, her parents’ marital problems, and a sister she loves dearly claiming to be an atheist. Alex questions if God is real, and if so, how could a loving God permit the tragedies, heartaches, and grief she is feeling. Alex’s spiritual struggles, doubts, and questions are thought provoking. The title is perfect for this book. Check out Matthew 23:24. I wholeheartedly recommend this book. It is a must-read. I would give it a 5 star rating.
